While there is a lot to do around Logan County sometimes just enjoying the views and nature is more fun. Who doesn’t love finding beautiful views and maybe even running onto some wildlife? This blog includes it all from hiking, exploring, birding and even some fishing.

Simon Kenton Trail – Simon Kenton Dr Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311 – This whole trail is 32 miles long and comes through Logan County! This trail travels through West Liberty and Bellefontaine. This trail is great for walking, hiking or biking. With so many areas to explore you will find something new every time!

Ohio Caverns2210 State Route 245 E West Liberty, Ohio 43357 – Ohio’s largest caverns have been impressing visitors since 1897. This natural wonder has so much to explore and discovers. With two different tours and gem mining for the little ones this is a family day like no other.

Myeerah Nature Preserve 7405 State Rt 540 Bellefontaine, OH 43311- Myeerah Nature Preserve is 450 acres with many trails and areas to explore. At this park you can enjoy camping, hiking, birding and fishing. You will find beautiful views and wildlife roaming around every corner.

Zane Shawnee Caverns7092 State Route 540 Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311 – This Native American owned business features a campground with cabins, a show cave and Native American Museum. This cave might not be as big as Ohio Caverns but it’s still a beautiful cavern to explore!

Cherokee Trail – This is a 3-mile trail through a brushy secluded area. The trail is relatively flat and considered easy to hike. You can find beautiful wooded views and maybe even some wildlife scenes. The main entrance of this trail is located off 235, west of the Indian Lake State Park Campgrounds.

Rudolph Nature preserve – This relatively new nature area was donated and is a 52-acre project. The trail is easy to hike and has many different views. You will walk through wetlands and a prairie and will see views rarely seen. If you are lucky you might even find some wildlife. The main entrance and parking area is located off Lincoln Boulevard in Russells Point.

Pew IslandPew Island Trail, Huntsville, OH 43324 Enjoy stunning views of Indian Lake on this 1-mile trail. There is even a hidden bridge on the hike through a beautiful marshy wetland! This hike may only wrap 1 mile around but has lots of different paths and hidden areas to find. This is truly a place to get some of the best views of Indian Lake.

Indian Lake Bike Trail13156 OH-235, Lakeview, OH 43331- This 5.8-mile-long trail is great for walking, biking or birding. This spot has great views of Indian Lake and is close to Old Field Beach so you and the family can cool off after a fun walk!

Big Darby Headwaters Nature Preserve5899-12280 C-152, East Liberty, OH 43319 – This 1,000-acre nature preserve is mixture of wetlands and streamside forests. One of the trails is a 2.6-mile hike showcases the importance of headwaters people and wildlife. So, you and the kids can not only enjoy great views but learn along the way!
